Let’s start our work by creating a new file (File>New) of 1280×1024 px and 72 dpi. Using the Paint Bucket Tool (G), give the new file this color #4d0100
Create a new layer and choose for it the Brush Tool (B), the Opacity of 50% and black color to dark out the bottom part of the picture and the left top corner.
Create one more new layer (Create new layer), using on it the same brush, but the Opacity of 100% to paint the right top corner with the color #B90C00
Next we’ll take the Pen Tool (P) and the Convert Point Tool and start drawing several lines, composing the ornament we want to have on our picture.
Select for the last layer the parameters demonstrated below by making a mouse click on this layer on the layers’ palette. Blending Options>Gradient Overlay

Continue applying the last used tools (Pen Tool (P) and Convert Point Tool) to represent other lines composing the same ornament, started above.

Next we’ll make the next operation: create by new layers above each layer containing by line. Mark out the layer with the line and situated above it the new layer (pressing Ctrl button) and finally press Ctrl+E. This way the layers containing the lines will rasterize themselves.
On the marked lines that you may see below, apply the filters Gaussian blur (G), Motion blur (M).

On the marked lines’ layers below, make a mouse click on the bottom part of the layers’ palette on Add a Mask selection and use a standard Brush Tool (B) (Opacity of 20%) and black color to erase the edges, the same way demonstrated next picture.
Put together the layers containing the lines into a single rasterized layer. In this case press Ctrl button to mark out the lines’ layers and then press Ctrl+E. Select for the new layer that we’ve got the next option: Filter>Sharpen>Unsharp mask
Using the Pen Tool (P) and the Convert Point Tool, try to make several lines of white color. This will compose a fir tree silhouette.
Next step includes using a set of brushes for Adobe Photoshop, named: stars and blinks. Create after that a new layer and apply on it the shown brush below of white color to represent the snowflakes. The snowflakes must be situated between the horizontal lines, belonging to the fir tree.
Using the shown below brush, it’s possible to insert on our picture a shining star of white color that must be placed on the very top of the fir tree.
